females..NS?

>>>FEMALE..NS?

during legal system tutorial today,we learnt that in the past, girls were regarded as "things"; meaning girls always belonged to a man. either her dad, husband or elder brother.

as much as ladies have fought against this & won,the thinking of the past still exist in some. somehow, this is the relation to why girls are exempted from the caning system in Singapore. something like the "owner" wouldnt like his girl caned?

xin & i realised that we aint the only ones who think the same way about feminism.
ms philip said what we've been wondering for a long time: why is it that although we believe in gender equality,we still believe that there're certain things guys 'are supposed to do'.

like i still believe guys should ask girls out,and its only gentlemenly that they OFFER to pay for our meals/movies(going dutch is of cos not a prob at all!)..and even down to the simple task of pulling down the overhead screen(right, xin?). to me,this plainly reflects on how gentlemanly a guy is; it is not exactly stereotyping.

pretty interesting when the point that "since we believe in equality, girls should therefore do NS too" came up.

yes,we believe in gender equality, but thats in terms of our opinions, freedom & respect. BUT,we do not deny that girls are indeed weaker..PHYSICALLY,so we do not agree that guys & girls should receive equal physical training(like NS) or punishment(caning system).

contradicting? not exactly.

now wait, how can i NOT leave a note about this? but then guys should just shuddup about the feminist thing. if MEN were the ones who were viewed as things, it'd be a totally different case right now.
:)
